He befriended me.
I stumbled and he steadied me.
When I fell, he lifted me again.
He breathed his breath in me.
When my breath was gone,
He breathed in me again.
When I rejected him,
He stood there by my side
Waiting patiently, so patiently.
The I came desperate back to him.
I sinned and knowing as I sinned,
I sinned again.
And when I saw the other’s sin,
I could not see my own
—blinded by my pride.
But thankfully he humbled me,
Befriending me again.
And as I walk with tiny steps,
He waits for me
Till knowing all my strength is him,
I run …
For he befriended me.
