Because of world events, the need to believe, to have faith, has never been so paramount.

You cannot make faith grow inside of you; you have to ask for that grace. In the days ahead, it will become a daily necessity to beg God for that grace. It’s only through faith that we can begin to hope, and it’s only through hope that we will have courage to lovewhich may cost us far more than we now realize.

Our faith is going to be repeatedly tested. So let us get on our knees now and expand the vision in our hearts so that we will be ready when that faith is needed.

When we are beginning in the spiritual life, we are often consoled and inundated with signs and indications that God is very much with us, but as we mature, we sometimes enter a region where pain and darkness become our constant companions. This should not discourage us, however. It will strengthen us as long as we have faith.

So whatever God is giving us at this time in our lives, let us make sure that we stay close to our spiritual directors or confessors so that we may stay on the path.

Graces will come more quickly and powerfully because the light of Christ has never been more needed than it is today.
