For eighty years, the people of the Diocese of Pembroke (the diocese Combermere belongs to) have, on the Sunday closest to the feast of St. Ann, gone to her shrine in Cormac, Ontario, for a celebration.

Usually people have gone by car, but three years ago, soon-to-be-MH associate Fr. Scott Murray, a diocesan priest, initiated a three-day, 66 km (41 miles) walking pilgrimage to precede the Sunday celebration. The route follows as closely as practical the original Opeongo Line, the early pioneer trail into our area of Ontario.

As members of St. Joseph’s House, the Madonna House mission that works in this area, we six women staff join in on one day of the pilgrimage, the Friday, for 18 kms (11 miles).
