Mary Was Very Human

A little Jewish maiden in Nazareth was the most courageous and faith-filled person that history has ever known. She obviously was very human, because when the angel came to her, she in her practical way asked how it was possible for her to become pregnant when she was not having sexual relations with Joseph.
It was not a strange question. No one had ever experienced what she was going to experience.
When she took the step into that one word, fiat, let it be done unto me according to your word, the vast drama of Christianity became a reality.
Even God was dependent upon a human being to complete the history of the redemption. What an awesome thought that is! God the Father didn’t have to approach us that way, but he did. He understood our dignity, our freedom, and our capacity to become what his only Son could lead us into.
