What is a Madonna?
A unique aspect of Madonna House Winslow, is that people call members of Madonna House "madonnas." Why?
In the early 1970s a family with three small children lived next door to La Casa. The children were frequent visitors, but became confused with the transfers of people and the new names.
One day, the five-year-old was calling to us: "Theresa!" "Kathy!" "Oh, Madonna!" he finally said in frustration. Older folks heard it—and it stuck!
