Eddie Doherty—who once had it all—died with nothing. Yet it was during this time of his life that he considered himself rich beyond all measure.

Eddie Doherty had it all—money, fame, women and power. He lived hard and fast as a newspaper reporter, pursuing the most exciting events of the world. Eddie was twice married and twice left a widower; a single father with two sons. But he dared to love again with a remarkable third marriage to Catherine de Hueck.

It was this relationship which led him to give up his fame and money—even his exciting big-city life—for the sake of a brave new way to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By the end of his amazing life, he had co-founded the Madonna House Apostolate and had been ordained a Melkite Catholic priest.

Eddie Doherty—who once had it all—died with nothing. Yet it was during this time of his life that he considered himself rich beyond all measure. This is the story of how it all happened. Eddie himself would have called it “a good yarn.”
