In the early 70s, Catherine Doherty, foundress of the Madonna House Apostolate, sent Jean Fox into the heart of a big city — not to preach, or to struggle for justice, but simply to pray. Not only did Jean do as she was bidden; she found that the only way she could keep her small apostolate alive and meet even her most practical everyday needs was to bring them to the Lord Jesus in prayer. Inflamed by Love is the fruit of this prayer and her decades of meditation and action on Catherine's unique call to renew contemporary society with the values of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In the introduction to Inflamed by Love Jean writes, “A page of history turned on September 11, 2001. Another era began, the outline of which is still dim. Our hope for the future rests secure in Jesus Christ.” She then shows from Sacred Scripture, the writings of Catherine Doherty, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and real-life experience why that hope is not misplaced — and how Jesus will sustain you in every detail of your life also, if only you let go of your fears and trust fully in him.
These brief, poetic, and often arresting meditations remind you that every moment you face a choice: between life and death, good and evil, eternal happiness and eternal despair. At the same time Jean emphasizes that your salvation has already been accomplished. All you must do is recognize and accept Christ's merciful gift of life and love. Jean demonstrates that there is so much more you can do in order to accept that gift.
This powerful collection of meditations, lovingly culled from Jean's correspondence and arranged into topical chapters, will help you to open up new horizons in your spiritual life.
“What a gentle volume! Such fragrant grace, page after page... Each chapter is quietly simple, just right for this hurting, questioning world. Its beauty is speechless!” — Karen Killea, secretary to Father Benedict Groeschel
“This book is a compelling incentive to contribute to the new ‘civilization of love’ that the pope foresees... Fox’s conviction that ‘something is unfolding in a most positive fashion’ makes these meditations powerfully relevant at a time when ‘the Holy Spirit seems to be pressing upon all Christians to bring forth a new springtime.’” — Prairie Messenger
