Madonna House In Windsor, we are a prayer-listening house, serving the whole Diocese of London, Ontario. People come from Windsor, Chatham, London and many smaller towns and outlying places. They bring their pain, sorrows, struggles, joys. We meet with them on a personal basis as friends who care, and we take all their concerns to the Lord in intercessory prayer.
Bishop John Sherlock has asked Madonna House to be a prayer presence in this diocese. This leads us to serve the lonely and desperate of mind and spirit. Poverty of spirit is not limited to any income bracket, as loneliness and desperation are not limited to a specific age group. We also help families and single people to strengthen their Catholic/Christian lives. We pray and fast in support of priestly vocations as well.
We hope to make the lives of others more meaningful by offering a loving heart to listen to their worries and difficulties. We listen to young people, parents, the elderly and everyone in between. Some come here to talk about God, and for help in maintaining a personal relationship with him. Some come to make a poustinia, which is 24 hours spent with the Lord in prayer, fasting, and quiet. We offer a small room with a desk, bed, chair, and large cross for this purpose. Bread and tea and a Bible are there. It is a wonderful opportunity to regain your perspective, and to feed the spiritual hunger that is so much a part of us all.
Ours is a simple, Gospel spirituality, a call to holiness for men and women of every age. It is a living out of the Nazareth way of life, having the Holy Family as our inspiration.
Madonna House is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God. It is her house, and we believe that no one comes here by accident. Everyone is brought here by her, to receive peace, hope, joy, encouragement, and a more profound relationship with her Son.
Each person gives us the gift of their presence, and through them, our own lives are more enriched. We live this life because we have been called to it by God, and we love it — and him — and you.
We live solely by donations, relying on the providence of God, through the generosity of his friends, to take care of our needs.
